The first overseas tourism group has arrived in Changsha, following the province's introduction of 12 measures to promote the development of its inbound tourism. Titled "Global Influencers Tour: Exploring the Flavors of Chinese New Year in Changsha," the event was officially launched on January 12, 2025, and was organized by the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio and Television, Ctrip Group, and Tripadvisor. Eleven groups of tourism influencers from 12 countries and regions, including the United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan, Spain, Australia, and Canada, gathered in Changsha to embark on an in-depth exploration tour themed "Savoring Chinese Culture and Enjoying Urban Leisure."
From January 12 to 14, global influencers from all over the world toured around ancient streets, ancient towns, museums, and art galleries to enjoy the cultural heritage of Changsha, known as the place where the ancient cultural giants Qu Yuan and Jia Yi once lived and a well-known City of Chu and Han Culture. The guests will also visit Wenheyou Crayfish Restaurant, Dongmao Street Teahouse, Binghuolou Restaurant and other restaurants to experience the hustle and bustle of Changsha and immerse themselves in the charm of the city's cultural tourism.
In December 2024, Changsha Huanghua International Airport and Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport were under the 240-hour visa-free transit policy, becoming one of the popular destinations for overseas tourists. Data showed that in 2024, the number of inbound and outbound passengers at Changsha Airport exceeded one million, hitting a four-year high. The annual number of inbound tourists increased by 118% year on year. Changsha was included in global top 100 destinations.
