A new direct air route linking Changsha and Tokyo, Japan, was launched on January 10, 2025.

The new route is operated by an A320 aircraft of the China Southern Airlines every Tuesday and Friday. The outbound flight number is CZ6021. It is scheduled to take off from Changsha at 8:15 Beijing time and arrive in Tokyo at 13:15 local time. The return flight CZ6022 departs from Tokyo at 14:20 local time and arrive in Changsha at 17:55 Beijing time. The one-way journey takes about 4 hours. The opening of the route greatly shortens travel time between the two places, avoiding passengers' tedious process of waiting for transit flights and making travel more efficient and convenient. The route also serves as a direct channel for Hunan tourists to travel, go on business tours, and study in Japan. Meanwhile, it will help attract more Japanese tourists to Changsha to savor the charm of Hunan and facilitate the flourishing of cultural tourism industries of the two places.

In addition to the Changsha-Tokyo route, the China Southern Airlines will also launch an air route to Singapore starting from January 15, which will run every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The airline's Changsha-Hanoi route will be resumed from January 20 to January 27 and from February 3 to February 10, and operated every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. These flights will further expand Changsha's "four-hour aviation economic circle", and continue to enhance the position of Changsha as a transportation hub.With the recent resumption of several air routes, the Changsha Huanghua International Airport will have flights to 10 international cities such as Nairobi, London, Seoul, Tokyo, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Vientiane, Phnom Penh, and Hanoi during the Spring Festival travel rush, with a maximum of 77 outbound international flights per week, providing more travel options for Hunan passengers.
