As the year 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, as well as the "Year of China-Malaysia Friendship," recently, the 2024 "Root-Seeking Tour in China" Winter Camp officially kicked off in Chaozhou, Guangdong Province. On the afternoon of December 24th, the winter camp participants, consisting of 40 ethnic Chinese youths from Malaysia and their leaders, engaged in an exchange activity about excellent traditional Chinese culture at Chaozhou Xinghua School.

The event began with a performance titled "Soaring in Prosperity" by the gong and drum team of Xinghua School, whose synchronized movements, passionate spirit, and imposing manner garnered rounds of applause. Following this, Ding Zekai, an inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage, Chaozhou's gong and drum, conducted a workshop for the participants. Under his guidance, the Malaysian students and their leaders took turns going up on stage, joining the students of Xinghua School in performing simple musical pieces, which allowed them to experience the charm of traditional Chaozhou art while igniting their passion for intangible cultural heritage.

Next, both groups of students engaged in a calligraphy creation and exchange session in the calligraphy room. Students from the calligraphy club created Spring Festival couplets and the Chinese character "Fu" (福) for the winter camp participants, who also picked up brushes to create their own works. They expressed their desire to take these creations back to Malaysia and display them at their doorsteps, filling the Spring Festival with a distinct Chinese flavor.

As the exchange activity came to a close, the Malaysian students and the faculty and students of Xinghua School presented souvenirs to each other, leaving behind beautiful memories of shared heritage as they collectively passed on excellent traditional Chinese culture.
